Dr. McCarthy is a fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician who is board-certified in both family medicine and sports medicine. Her clinical focus includes non-operative orthopedic care, concussion management, stress injuries and prevention strategies, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, and ultrasound guided injections. She is also certified in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, allowing her to provide comprehensive, hands-on treatment for musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. McCarthy’s academic journey reflects her commitment to holistic, patient-centered care. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at Overlook Family Medicine in Summit, NJ where she received multiple awards for research and clinical excellence. Before medical school. she obtained a Master’s in Human Nutrition from Columbia University, enhancing her ability to integrate nutrition counseling into preventive care strategies. She even worked as a Research Fellow at Rothman Institute with the Shoulder and Elbow Orthopedic Division helping publish articles, posters, and textbook chapters. She has additional experience as an Associate Clinical Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and enjoys teaching students.
She has a wide array of experience and offers a unique blend of clinical excellence and athletic insight having served as a Fellow Team Physician for the New York Jets and Seton Hall University’s soccer and football teams during her Sports Medicine Fellowship at Atlantic Sports Health in Morristown, New Jersey. More recently she serves as one of the team physicians for local high schools in Mercer County and the College of New Jersey. A former varsity field hockey player at Yale University, Dr. McCarthy understands firsthand the physical and emotional challenges athletes face.
She is committed to helping patients reach their physical goals and to also improve their mechanics to prevent injury. Dr. McCarthy enjoys travel, spinning, and time with her family outside of work.
